THE MAGIC HAT

He dared me to come on stage...
"come, he tempted my senses,
my magical hat awaits your tender hand...
see what passions are buried within its' darkness."

Oh, how I wanted to take his challenge,
but I feared risking what seemed so comfortable, so familiar.
He was too persuasive though,
and I floated on stage,
held my breath
and placed my hand within the hollow
of his hat.

I screamed, then laughed, then began to weep
for what I found was an unfamiliar warmth filling my heart,
a pulsing of lust racing through my veins,
and a clarity of self I had never experienced.
I stood paralyzed, tingling from head to toe.
The kind magician wrapped me in his embrace,
and assured me that life/love/friendship
was definitely worth the risk.
