Consumer Health Digest ranks the products on a number of factors. In their Female Sexual Enhancers 2006 Review within the top 25 of libido enhancers, with 1 being the highest, Alura is ranks near the bottom at 21. Before spending a lot of money on any product, check out how it ranks on this list.
In response to my statements, one woman simply wrote "Baloney." That does not convince me, and I would love to see scientific, well controlled, independent studies that answer the question, "Do these female sexual enhancement products really work in the way claimed?" I would also like to see all the companies selling these products offer money-back guarantees, for if they claim that their products work, they need to stand behind these claims."
However, most of us in the sexology fields are concerned about unsubstantiated claims that a product will "cure" a female sexual dysfunction, such as a low libido, problems with arousa, for difficulty reachiong orgasm. These cremes could, however, serve another purpose . . . novelty.
In an article found on SexualHealth.com, Sexologist Kathleen VanKirk wrote:
The good thing is that there are clit creams on the market -- it shows that the public at large is finally interested in female sexuality. The challenge is that there isn't much consistence between which creams work best. One formulation might work well for one woman, while it may not for someone else. Also, keep in mind that other than testosterone creams (which are available only by prescription) the rest of the creams out there are for "novelty" purposes only. Their only real active ingredient is menthol, which is what causes that warm, tingling sensation. The purpose of the creams is not actually to increase desire (although some will say that they do), it's more likely that you just might like the new tingly sensation it creates and indirectly cause you to psychologically get more turned on and therefore increasing blood flow to the vaginal area.
Either way, experimentation is always good and if that creates more desire by itself then that's worth it.
